Minty Delight

Ingredients: olive oil, water, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide, palm oil, peppermint leaves

-Refreshing texture with bubbles that contains peppermint flakes

-Good for oily skin

I recently started gardening, meaning I got some herbs to grow and bring on our plates, haha.

Currently rosemary, oregano, basil, thyme, chive, dill and peppermint are enjoying this Texas hot weather outside on our patio.

The peppermint actually nearly died because of the Texas heat when it just came to our house, so I replanted it in the cooler side of the patio that has more shade throughout the day.

I honestly thought it was too late for it to revive as it looked completely dried. However, after replanting and giving it lots of water, its life came back! I was so surprised with the super strong life force, haha.

This guy, with its fresh scent and texture, is a perfect match for homemade soaps.

Soap with peppermint feels very refreshing and it cools down your body.

It contains plenty of peppermint so every time you use the soap, you see peppermint flakes in the bubbles.

It is really as if you are bringing nature into your bathroom.

Since the amount of peppermint this soap contains is staggering, you might get surprised with the amount you see in the bubbles.

This is actually because I wanted to keep an active effect from the plant on skin.

Sodium hydroxide is strong alkaline so it basically breaks down anything it touches. That’s why it’s difficult to keep additives in the same color, for example, while the curing process is being done, which takes at least a month.

So if you want to see real effects from any additives, you need to make sure they are not broken down by sodium hydroxide.

Hence this soap has more than the amount of peppermint leaves that sodium hydroxide could touch and break down the contents of.

It might not look the greatest but you should be able to feel the real power of plants on your skin!

You can smell a tinge of them as well.

Although it is not a strong smell, it is a real scent of nature.

Olive oil, palm oil and coconut oil are holding the peppermint leaves very well.

Although more than 70% of the contents is olive oil, since peppermint has a great refreshing power, normal to oily skin would be most suitable to the soap.

The concept of sotto soaps is making you “relax, connect with nature, and let the plants and aroma take your tension away.”

I tried to fulfill its mission with this soap first.

If you feel connected to nature by using this and feel relaxed, that is the biggest delight for me. :)
